Chloe and Ainsley’s Beautiful Wedding at The Middletons York
There are some couples you meet once and instantly think, I really hope they book me.
Chloe and Ainsley were exactly that couple.
We first met months before their wedding at a The Middletons York wedding fayre, where we got chatting and had some lovely conversations about their plans, their ideas and the kind of wedding they wanted. I always love meeting couples at wedding fayres, but every now and again you meet people where the conversation just flows and Chloe and Ainsley were definitely those people.
So when they got in touch and booked me as their York wedding photographer, I was absolutely delighted.
A beautiful wedding at The Middletons York
Chloe and Ainsley chose the wonderful The Middletons Hotel in York for their wedding. It’s such a gorgeous setting for a celebration, right in the heart of York and surrounded by all the character that makes the city such a special place for a wedding.
But, as lovely as the venue was, it was the two of them who really made the day.
They are genuinely lovely souls, and the love between them was so obvious. The kind of couple where you don't have to manufacture moments or ask them to look in love, they just are.
York Minster wedding photography
One of the highlights for me was heading into York for some photos around York Minster, where Chloe & Ainsley certainly drew a crowd.
People couldn't help but stop and look. To be fair, I can't blame them. Chloe and Ainsley looked incredible, and there was something pretty magical about them being in the place where it all began.
It was one of those moments that reminded me why I love being a York wedding photographer. You get to photograph people in places that have so much history and character, while creating something that becomes part of their story.
And then there were Saph & Tofu...
Of course, there were two very important members of Chloe and Ainsley's family who couldn't make it to the wedding.
Their children.
Saph and Tofu, their cats.
Sadly, their furry family members couldn't attend the wedding in person, but Chloe and Ainsley made sure they were still part of the day, in mask form.
Yes, you read that correctly.
Saph and Tofu made an appearance as masks, which may just be one of my favourite wedding details ever.
Because weddings aren't just about the people who can physically be there. They're about the people (and pets!) who make up your life and your family, and I absolutely loved that they found a way to include their beloved cats in the celebrations.
A York wedding full of personality
One of my favourite things about photographing weddings is that no two couples are the same.
The best weddings aren't necessarily the ones that follow every tradition perfectly. They're the ones that feel like you.
And Chloe and Ainsley's wedding felt completely like them.
From the gorgeous setting at The Middletons York, to wandering around York Minster together, to their little nod to Saph and Tofu, there were so many personal touches and moments that made the day theirs.
And because we'd already met months earlier at the wedding fayre, it felt like catching up with old friends rather than meeting for the first time on their wedding day. That connection is something I really value as a York wedding photographer.
You spend so much of your wedding day with your photographer, so having someone you feel comfortable with makes such a difference. It means you can relax, enjoy yourselves and actually be present in the moment while I quietly capture everything as it happens.
Chloe and Ainsley, thank you for trusting me to capture your wedding day. You really are two of the loveliest souls, and I feel so lucky that a conversation at a wedding fayre months earlier eventually led to me being there to photograph your beautiful day.
