How to choose your perfect wedding photographer
This weeks blog give you hints and tips on how to find the perfect photographer to capture your special day.
- Don't delay : Begin looking for a wedding photographer as soon as possible. Good photographers often get booked up very quickly, especially during peak wedding seasons.
- What's your perfect style? : Do you like traditional posed portraits, or are you more interested in candid, a more photojournalistic approach? Look at lots of different photography styles to find what suits you. Photography is an art, and every single photographer has their own unique style. My advice would be to not expect a photographer to mimic another photographers editing style, poses etc as this will may end in disappointment.
- Research Online: Start your search by browsing online portfolios of wedding photographers who cover your area. Wedding planning websites, social media platforms like Instagram and photography directories are great places to find photographers. Look for photographers whose approach and style you like.
- Ask for Recommendations: Reach out to friends, family, and recently married couples for they recommendations. Personal referrals can be valuable, as you'll get insights into the photographer's professionalism, communication skills, how they worked on the day and the quality of their work.
- Attend wedding fayres - : Wedding fayres often feature local photographers showcasing their work. This gives you the opportunity to meet photographers in person, see their portfolios, and ask any relevant questions.
- What's your budget? : How much does wedding photography cost? Wedding photography costs can vary greatly, I currently offer packages from £300 through to £1650 (inc video highlight). Set a realistic budget for photography services and prioritise what aspects are most important to you for example, do you need the whole day capturing? Do you want a bespoke luxury album? Do you want someone that offers a highlight reel/video too?
- Check Reviews : Read reviews from past clients to gauge their satisfaction with the photographer's services. Search engines like Google, social media and wedding planning platforms typically feature reviews from real couples.
- Do you connect with them? : It's essential to choose a photographer you feel comfortable and at ease with, as they'll be with you throughout your wedding day. Look for someone who is friendly, personable and professional. I always offer a Teams call prior to booking so you can tell me all about your plans and find out a little about me too.
- Review the Contract: Before booking, carefully read through the photographer's contract. Pay attention to details such as payment terms, cancellation policies, and what's included in the package.
- Trust Your Instincts: Ultimately, trust your instincts and choose the photographer who you believe will best capture the essence of your wedding day. If you have a gut feeling about a particular photographer, it's likely the right choice for you. Once you trust your instincts, all that’s left to do is trust your photographer to capture your day in the most magical way possible
