Kelly and Tom’s Winter Wedding at Leeds Civic Hall
If you’re looking for proof that a Leeds Civic Hall wedding in November can be just as fun (if not more fun) than a summer wedding, Kelly and Tom’s day in Leeds city centre was exactly that. Crisp winter air, the Leeds Christmas Market being built in Millennium Square, cosy seasonal vibes, and yes… a full wedding-dress ride on a Christmas carousel. Exactly the kind of day I love as a Leeds Civic Hall wedding photographer.
Kelly and Tom chose Leeds Civic Hall for their wedding ceremony, right in the heart of Leeds, and the timing couldn’t have been better. The Christmas stalls were going up, lights were being tested, and the whole city had that something’s about to happen feeling. A winter wedding in Leeds always has atmosphere, but with the Christmas market setting up around us, the place felt truly magical.
As a Leeds wedding photographer, Civic Hall is one of my favourite venues to shoot at. The building has so much character, the stonework gives that classic Yorkshire backdrop, and the steps outside are perfect for relaxed, natural photos without anything feeling staged. Add in soft November light and a bit of festive chaos in Millennium Square, and you’ve got everything you need for a brilliant Leeds city centre wedding.
Kelly looked effortlessly stunning, and Tom had the look of a man who knew he’d absolutely nailed it. The whole day had such a relaxed feel, no fuss, no pressure, just everyone enjoying the moment. Exactly how weddings should be.
One of the best parts of the day was how much Kelly and Tom’s children, Alice and Otis, were involved. Not just stood on the side watching, but right in the middle of everything. There were laughs, hugs, a few perfectly chaotic family moments, and the kind of real interactions that make the best photos. As a natural wedding photographer in Leeds, those are always the moments that matter most, the ones that actually feel like you when you look back at them.
Then came one of my favourite moments of the whole wedding. While the Leeds Christmas Market in Millennium Square was still being set up, I spotted the Christmas carousel and decided the only logical thing to do was get Kelly and Tom on it. In full wedding outfits. In the middle of Leeds. On a late Saturday afternoon.
Passers-by definitely weren’t expecting to see a bride and groom spinning round on a carousel, but that’s exactly what made it perfect. Fun, slightly daft, completely them, and exactly why I love photographing Leeds city weddings. Sometimes the best photos happen when you just go with the moment.
The November light was spot on too. Winter weddings in Yorkshire have that soft, flattering light you just don’t get in summer. No squinting into the sun, no melting in the heat, just nice natural tones and a cosy feel around the city centre. It suited Leeds Civic Hall wedding photography perfectly.
Kelly and Tom’s wedding was a reminder that you don’t need sunshine for an unforgettable day.
