Michael and Surika’s Micro Wedding at Holdsworth House, Halifax | Holdsworth House Wedding Photographer
Some weddings are huge, busy, full-on party mode from start to finish and some are small, relaxed, and all about the people who matter most.
Michael & Surika’s micro wedding at Holdsworth House was exactly that. Intimate, emotional, and proof that you really don’t need 100 guests to have an absolutely brilliant wedding day.
As a Halifax wedding photographer, I love working at Holdsworth House in Halifax. It’s one of those venues that just works whatever the size of the wedding. Big celebrations, tiny weddings, last-minute weddings, sunshine, rain, it somehow always looks gorgeous (which makes my life very easy).
If you’re planning a Holdsworth House wedding, it’s honestly one of my favourite wedding venues in West Yorkshire to photograph.
Small guest list, big atmosphere
Michael & Surika chose to have a micro wedding at Holdsworth House, with just their closest family there, which meant the whole day felt really relaxed from the start. No rushing around, no strict timelines, no stress about getting everyone in the right place at the right time, just a lovely calm wedding day in Halifax where everyone could actually enjoy it.
And selfishly, I love a smaller wedding because it means we get time.
Time for photos, time for a wander round the beautiful gardens, time for a laugh, and time for those natural moments that you just can’t force.
For couples looking for a Halifax wedding photographer who captures the day naturally, micro weddings like this are always such a dream to shoot.
Holdsworth House is honestly made for smaller weddings. The rooms feel cosy instead of empty, the gardens are right there for photos, and everywhere you turn there’s another nice little spot that looks like it belongs in a magazine.
It’s easy to see why it’s such a popular West Yorkshire wedding venue, especially for couples who want something relaxed but still really special.
We had a good wander around the grounds after the ceremony and made the most of the gardens at Holdsworth House. Even with a smaller wedding, you’d never know from the photos. That’s something I always tell couples, you don’t need a big wedding to have a full gallery, you just need the right venue and the right atmosphere.
And preferably Yorkshire weather behaving itself for once and it actually did.
Even though I’ve photographed weddings at Holdsworth House in Halifax before, I always go back for a revisit before each wedding. Every couple uses the space differently, the light changes, the season changes, and fresh eyes always mean fresh ideas.
It’s one of the reasons I love being a Yorkshire wedding photographer, we’ve got some amazing venues, and Holdsworth House is definitely up there with my favourites.
(Plus… I’ll take any excuse to visit because it’s such a lovely place.)
A perfect reminder of what weddings are really about
Michael & Surika’s day at Holdsworth House was one of those weddings that reminds you what it’s all about.
No fuss, no pressure, just two people getting married in Halifax with the people they love most around them.
And honestly, those are often the best ones.
